Teams are put to work building real homes at our Habitat construction sites; specific duties will coincide with the stage of our build. Teams are led by a Site Supervisor and are taught how to work as a team to hang drywall, lay flooring, install windows or siding, paint and numerous other tasks.
No construction skills are required – we teach you all you need to know. Tools, supplies, hard hats, and team t-shirts are provided. Habitat Gateway North will also provide lunch and a media opportunity to promote your team’s support in our home building program. Our goal is to make sure you and your team has the best experience possible, taking home invaluable experiences, while helping build homes for our partner families.
In order for teams to participate in the build they must complete “SHE” – Safety, Health and Environmental Training, sign a participation waiver and wear CSA approved footwear and hardhats. A safety talk is held each morning before work begins on site.
Our Adopt-A-Day program provides you and your team with a unique opportunity to help break the cycle of poverty in your community through home ownership.
With your minimum required donation of $2,500, you and your team will help HFHOGN make the dream of homeownership a reality for a deserving family.
The Adopt-a-Day program can also be included in your overall community fundraising program. Working with your community of colleagues, network of contacts, suppliers, vendors, family and friends, you can have a profound effect in helping to eliminate poverty housing in the region.
All money raised will go directly into the build fund, as our ReStore operations fund our administrative costs.
