The organization was founded in 2001 as a chapter of Huronia (Barrie) and received affiliate status as Habitat for Humanity North Simcoe in 2006. The first home built was in Penetanguishene in 2002. Since then, four more homes were built; a single dwelling in Midland, a single dwelling in Port McNicoll, a single dwelling in Victoria Harbour and another single dwelling in Penetanguishene.
The North Simcoe ReStore is located at 253 Whitfield Crescent in Midland, Ontario. It was built in 2007 on purchased land, with the doors opening to the public in 2008. With 6,500 square feet of retail space, donated materials are always welcome!
The North Simcoe Chapter plans and manages HFHOGN build projects in the area, including raising funds, hosting events, organizing volunteers, selecting and maintaining contact with the partner families and working with the community.
To bring affordable homeownership to your community, please consider making a donation that will bring a family into partnership and help break the cycle of poverty.
